About Our Botox & Fillers Treatments
INJECTABLE NEUROMODULATORS (BOTOX, DYSPORT, XEOMIN)
New advanced techniques for neuromodulator injections developed in the last few years by expert injectors have made products like Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin the new hot commodity in the cosmetic beauty space. Our Los Angeles facility utilizes neuromodulators to correct fine lines and dynamic wrinkles in the upper face, such as forehead lines, crow’s feet, smile lines, and frown lines.
However, new uses of neuromodulators now include in the neck and lower face to raise the corners of the mouth, eliminate chin wrinkles, improve the appearance of jowls, decrease lip lines, thin the face, relieve pain for teeth grinding, lift the tip of the nose, decrease the gummy smile, flip the lip, as well as give the neck a slight lift.
These techniques are more advanced and require more expert injection methods. Neuromodulator injections are mostly painless, have little to no downtime, and last 3-4 months. The most common side effect is mild bruising. Results will vary among individuals and touch-ups may be required.
WHAT ARE NEUROMODULATORS?
Neuromodulators like Botox and Dysport, sometimes referred to as neurotoxins, are small molecules that can bind the ends of nerve endings in the muscles that let us move, such as making a facial expression. In most cases, this is a normal process. However, sometimes the activity of the muscle is increased and there is over-contraction, causing the muscles get larger. The larger muscle then contracts to, causing issues such as teeth-grinding, headaches, and deep lines on the face. Neuromodulators are a safe way to treat this muscle hypertrophy (increase in size). After injection, they stay local and bind to the nerves being treated. They are quickly broken down. However, because the nerves hold onto the neuromodulators that bind them, they remain inactive until new nerve endings can be grown, usually taking between 2-4 months. The toxin does not enter the blood to cause problems elsewhere.

INJECTABLE FILLERS (JUVEDERM, RESTYLANE)
The last few years have seen an explosion in innovative new fillers that are not only softer and last longer, but also give a perfectly natural look. Some are used to rebuild lost bone structures while others help refill fat pockets that you lose with age. Fillers have multiple uses in different parts of the face to recreate a more youthful face. Certain hyaluronic acid fillers can also help rejuvenate and hydrate the skin and lips, decreasing the appearance of lines, wrinkles, and sagginess of the skin. Non-surgical rhinoplasty can reshape the nose non-surgically while new FDA-approved indications for fillers have allowed us to correct new areas such as bony and veiny hands. Chins can be elongated without the insertion of implants, and jawlines can be smoothed.
WHEN TO EXPECT RESULTS WITH INJECTABLE FILLERS
The results are immediate and can improve over the course of a few weeks as water is drawn to the area for increased efficacy. Although fillers have ample uses, they are not without risks, including bruising and skin injury. In extremely rare cases, blindness has been reported. Therefore, experienced injectors are key to safe and natural results. Make sure the source of the filler is legitimate and that your injector is certified and trained to use the filler product.
HOW TO PREPARE
Our philosophy is that we want our patients for life. We want them to be happy long-term with their treatments. This is why we require an initial consultation so we can discuss the options in detail. Sometimes, filler is not the right treatment. However, when it is, we start conservatively, opting for a gradual improvement that is sustainable rather than a one-time treatment, which can lead to the appearance of being over-filled. Newer uses of fillers include softening the appearance of the tops of the hands, which can look bony over time from sun damage. We can correct resorption of the chin from gradual loss with aging and with osteoporosis.
HOW MUCH DO INJECTABLE FILLERS COST?
Injectable filler treatments are customized to address the unique aesthetic needs of each individual. The cost of the treatment depends on the type of filler used and the amount needed to achieve the desired results. Our skilled team will develop your personalized treatment plan and discuss the associated cost during your consultation.
GOOD CANDIDATES FOR BOTOX & FILLERS TREATMENTS
The current generation of fillers is variably cross-linked hyaluronic acid, which is the natural plump hydrating substance already present in the human skin. Because it is technically a “natural” product, the body can break it down, just like normal skin. This is why hyaluronic fillers do not last forever. However, newer types of fillers have higher levels of cross-linking, which makes them harder to break down and therefore, last longer in the skin once injected. The newer fillers are also made to have different consistency and stretchability, which are ideal for different parts of the face. They now comprise an entire toolkit to address various lines, folds, and sagginess on the face. It can even be used to recreate underlying bony structure, which acts as a scaffold for the overlying fat and skin. Naturally enhancing the face requires a deep understanding of not only facial anatomy, but also the types of fillers and their characteristics.
